About Me

Hi there! I’m Charity Alena, a passionate crochet designer, teacher, and entrepreneur.

Crafting has been my world for as long as I can remember, but my journey truly began when I taught myself to knit and crochet through YouTube.

Those early days of figuring things out with trial, error, and a lot of curiosity planted the seeds for what has become a fulfilling and creative career

I hold two business degrees in Accounting and Management, but my heart has always been in creating. In 2020, I founded SitnCrochet.com, a space where I could share my love for crafting. What started as a small venture to document my projects has since blossomed into a thriving platform.

Today, SitnCrochet is not just a blog — it’s a hub for sharing and selling my crochet patterns, as well as craft-related clothing and accessories that resonate with fellow makers around the world.

These days, my work revolves around creating crochet patterns, teaching others through my courses on Udemy and Skillshare, and sharing inspiration on my YouTube channel. I absolutely love what I do because it lets me bring beauty into the world one stitch at a time.

Crochet and knitting are more than just hobbies to me—they’re a way of life. If I’m not holding a crochet hook, you’ll find me scrolling for inspiration or sketching out ideas for my next project.

Outside of crafting, I live a joyful life in Malawi, the warm heart of Africa, with my incredible husband Amanu, whom I married on October 27, 2024, and our very clingy Maltese pup, Mphatso. Together, they fill my life with love, support, and a touch of humor—Mphatso has an uncanny knack for stealing yarn when I’m not looking!

Running my blog and crochet business full-time has been one of the most rewarding experiences. SitnCrochet.com has given me the opportunity to connect with an incredible global community of makers, dreamers, and doers. My mission is to make crochet and knitting as easy, accessible, and enjoyable as possible. I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re just starting out, and I want to bridge that gap by sharing resources, tutorials, and designs that inspire confidence and creativity.

Whether you’re picking up a hook for the first time, looking for your next project, or simply here for inspiration, I’m so glad you found your way to my corner of the internet. Let’s create something beautiful together!
