This is my first and definitely not my last of crochet blankets for 2026. There are a lot of crochet granny stripe blankets out there all with different patterns and designs, but today, i wanted to share my own design made from a lot of love for a very special someone.

The blanket i made is for a baby or toddler as it measures 44″X42″. I had a great time making it and i could not believe how fast it worked up.

I have made a few crochet blankets before and most of them were mosaic blankets. If you know a think or two about crochet mosaic blanket it is that they take some time and concentration. So compared to this crochet granny stripe blanket, it was a walk in the park for me.

How to Crochet a Granny Stripe Blanket
If you are a visual learner like myself, then you can always follow the crochet tutorial below together with the free pattern so you know how many you have to chain. You do noy have to follow my exact stitch count. You can add more or less depending on your desired outcome. Just make sure to follow the math so that you have the correct chain count at the end.

What do i need to achieve the crochet granny stripe blanket?
I will tell you what i used, if you have similar materials then great. No need to buy new yarn.
I used 50g of acrylic rainbow yarn. For an alternative consider Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
5mm crochet hook but you could always size up or down to meet gauge
The amount of yarn needed will depend on the blanket you are making and your gauge.
Gauge: 5 clusters in 9 rows = 4″X4″
My finished crochet granny stripe blanket measured 44″X42″ without the border and it is just above crib size and close to the toddler size. I used 9.5 balls of 50g acrylic yarn which is 1,140 yards.
