This design is created from the neck going down so you can easily customise the length to fit your style and size!

The crochet top is worked using a double crochet, which means it works up very fast and has a beautiful finish. The top will be worked in one piece so there will be no sewing done at the end.

The edging of the top will be finished with the single crochet stitch to give it the final finish and clean finish.

DESIGN INSPIRATION

The idea of creating a summer top with ruffle sleeve had been on my mind i just had to get to working on it. And now that i have, i am seriously thinking about an overwrap version of this same design. What do you think?

I really wanted to make something very easy and not too involving with the yarn needle because if you know me, you know i hate sewing crochet pieces together, Probably the reason why you have never seen a granny square project on this blog.

This crochet top allows you to try it on to get the perfecr fit for your size, and if you wish, you can keep he sleeves going and you have a crochet sweater.

YARN

For this crochet project, i used a worsted weight yarn. The brand i used is only available in Malawi, i do not believe they ship, however, i know of a better yarn that will look so good after many washes.

For a comparable yarn, i would recommend the Mary Maxim Starlette Yarn, it is a much better yarn choice to the one i used as your crochet top will look fresh after many washes.

AMOUNT OF YARN NEEDED

3(4,5,6,7,8,9)balls of yarn

NOTES

*The sizing guide follows size XS(S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL). E.g. “Ch 88(96, 104, 112, 120, 128, 136), means Ch 64 for XS, Ch 84 for Small, Ch 104 for Medium, Ch 124 for Large, Ch 144 for XL, Ch 164 for 2XL and Ch 184 for 3XL.

*Ch 3 always counts as a stitch unless otherwise noted.

*Ch 3 can be replaced with a ‘No Turning Chain Stitch’ which reduces the visible seam.

YOKE

Ch 64(64,84,104,124,144,164) slst to the first ch made and make a ch 3 or no turning chain, into the back bumps, dc in to the next 10(10,15,17,20,22,25) st, then place 3 dc in the next st, place a stitch marker in the middle st.

Dc into the next 10(10,10,15,20,25,30) and place 3 dc in the next st, place a stitch marker in the middle st.

Dc into the next 20(20,30,35,40,45,50), place 3 dc in the next stitch remembering to leave a stitch marker in the middle stitch,

Dc in the next 10(10,10,15,20,25,30), place 3 dc in the next st and leave a stitch marker in the middle stitch, and finish placing dc in the last stitches, slst to join in the first stitch made, and dc in all the stitches.

Note, we will only be increasing in the stitch marked stitches by placing 3 dc into the one stitch, so be sure to replace the stitch marker when you are done.

Continue increasing for a total of 13(13,17,21,25,29,33) rows.

We are now going to separate the body from the arms, to do that, start the row as normal, when you reach the stitch marker, do not increase, place one dc, ch 3(3,5,5,7,7,9) and dc into the next stitch marked stitch,dc your way to the next stitch marker and and ch 3(3,5,5,7,7,9) and connect with a dc to the last stitch marker.

Dc in circles for the rest of the top. You can wear the top and stop when you feel you have enough length, or crochet for a total of 21(21,25,29,33,37,41) rows.

Ch 1 and turn, then sc into every stitch, slst to the first one and cut, weave in the ends.

SLEEVES

Connect the yarn at the under arm section, and ch 3 or make a no turning ch,

In the same stitch as the ch 3 or the no turning chain, place a dc, and place 2 dc in every stitch going around slst to the first stitch.

Ch 3 or do a no turning ch and place one dc into each and every stitch going around, rep this for 4(4,6,8,10,12,14) rows.

Rep this for the other sleeve.

Weave in your ends and you are all done. You have finished your Crochet ruffle sleeve summer top.
